"At the very front of portrayal, Emilio gladly made a case for the 'record for the longest-running job for a Mexican-American in a TV series'.

"We are so appreciative he imparted his gifts to us and with the world."

Delgado was brought into the world in 1940 in Calexico, California, close to the US-Mexico line, and moved to Los Angeles to follow his fantasy about turning into an entertainer.

As Luis, Delgado got to play a common, non-cliché Latino person when such portrayals were uncommon on TV.
